Starship Farragut Kickstarter

Although science fiction isn't my favorite genre, I do dabble in it from time to time. And after spending the weekend with a bunch of Trekkies at Shore Leave 36, I have been keeping up with it a little more than before. So when I ran into this kickstarter plea from the folks who create the Starship Farragut stories, I had to give them a plug.

They're working on a big project (movie length) called The Crossing and need a little help in financing their endeavor.

If you have a few extra bucks, maybe you can help them out! And they still have a lot of prizes / gifts left for those who donate (as of 9/23/2014).

I've Had Enough Fun With Simily

Image
Just a reminder: It’s okay to leave comments! I think it's time to end my experiment with  Simily .  via GIPHY I received this email from Simily this morning (June 14, 2023): Wednesday June 13, 2023 Important Changes to the Simily Platform To Our Fellow Similians, Simily’s mission has always been to build a place where creative writers and readers can thrive online. As the platform has grown, we noticed a shift in the quality of content and engagement on the site which took us further away from this mission. Over the past few months, our small team has spent countless hours and resources defending the site from bad actors focused on driving spam and bot traffic. (If you’ve been with us for a while, you understand the bumps in the road and we can’t thank you enough for sticking with us!)   It’s time we bring our focus back to creating a social platform that allows creators to share high-quality writing with an engaged audience.    We’ve spoken to hundreds of you...

Into this house we're born, into this world we're thrown... Oblivious To Oblivion      As the students and teachers made their way out of the designated shelter rooms in the center of the school, the principal remarked how they had all survived the tornado with just a few minor injuries even though the storm had blown out most of the doors and windows, and water and mud were everywhere.     "All except for Kyle," a girl replied, nearly in tears.     "He was outside during the storm?"     "He was going to sneak into one of the dugouts at the ball field...

Each week Lillie will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction. Get FSF updates on twitter by following  @5SentenceFic Bit by Bit     "Mom, why is old Miss Taylor so grouchy—all she ever does is sit on her porch and grumble!"     "She's lost too much to thieves to be happy, Sarah, so please be kind to her if you can.  When she was your age, a boy stole her heart, but before they could truly be a couple, a man took her innocence. The drugs she used to forget that time destroyed her body, and now the years are stealing her mind."     When Sarah's mother looked acros...
